Who We Are

NSFI is a not for profit national level organization that works on poverty reduction, market access, livelihoods, climate smart agriculture, women participation in value chains, food & nutrition security, emerging technologies and renewable energy in agriculture. We incubate, support and skill rural youth, farmers and women entrepreneurs across agriculture value chain for sustainable livelihoods.

NSFI collaborates with partners, companies, civil society organizations, multilateral and bilateral institutios, research and policy organizations, government and individuals with shared interest to develop and deliver innovative solutions for a last impact.

What we do

AGRICULTURE & LIVELIHOODS DEVELOPMENT

Beneficiaries: 134,049 farmers and 164 FPOs

  • Commodity trading (164 FPOs)
  • Allied- NTFP, Fisheries, apiculture and others
  • Market linkages (North East Chapter)
  • Organic farming & High Value Agriculture
  • Sabal Sakhi: A rural retail program for creating demand for high impact low-cost products like solar lamps, solar cook-stoves etc. in rural areas to promote the environmental sustainability and green energy.

CLEAN & GREEN ENERGY

  • Solar based solutions: Training curriculum, Micro-business plan, Solar Street Light System set-up.
  • Solar Libraries: Solar libraries to school children, Social & Behaviour Change Communication, Awareness & Sensitization for localization of services
  • Commercial partnership between farmer groups and hotels for their Unique Processed Products in North East.
  • Organic value added horti/ agri produce /products of Meghalya & Mizoram women farmers.

WOMEN EMPOWERMENT

Beneficiaries: More than 5,000 BoP women

  • Community enterprise development of SHGs for development of Khakra Production Units.
  • Providing Marketing and Branding Platform to small artisans of North East through creating shift stalls in leading shopping malls of Delhi, Bangalore and Kolkata.
  • Training Design taking lifestyle, cultural & agricultural practices in financial management, and risks & opportunities pertaining to digital financial transactions into account in the rural context.

DIGITAL & FINANCIAL INCLUSION

  • Beneficiaries: More than 26,000 rural and agrarian communities in Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, Haryana & Rajasthan
  • Agriculture Skill Council of India: Nodal agency for guiding and coordinating pan India agriculture skill development ecosystem established in partnership with NSDC & FICCI.
  • SkillGreen Global: A social enterprise supported by GIZ and in partnership with WHH for providing services across training value chain of green trades.

INCUBATION & ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT

Beneficiaries: 37 Farmer Groups and 13 Green

  • Saksham: Agency to enable farmer producer organizations evolving with clear market orientation and as agency of change.
